Maya Mountain Has Two Reviews. They Both Score 4.5.
Nine bars in the archive, one bar reviewed, and a number worth watching carefully.
By Rami
The Maya Mountain cacao-growing region in Belize has nine bars in the archive, from makers as different as Fjåk, Dandelion Chocolate, Standout Chocolate, and Chocolate Tree. So far, members have reviewed exactly one of them. Fjåk's Dark Belize 70% from the Limited Microlot Series has collected two scores, and those two scores average 4.5 out of 5. That is a promising opening, and it is also almost nothing. Two reviews cannot tell you what Maya Mountain cacao tastes like across makers, across percentages, across harvests. What they can tell you is that someone who tried that particular bar, from that particular Norwegian maker, thought it was worth scoring highly. Twice. The other eight bars are sitting in the archive unscored. Dandelion's 85%, Standout's 100%, Chocolate Tree's 75% at the other end of the spectrum. The full picture of this origin is still being written, and most of the writing is yours to do.
